Events & Activities

Planning for the 2012 Boston Flower and Garden Show is well underway!

The 2012 show, themed “First Impressions”, will feature spectacular gardens, a marketplace selling plants and garden related merchandise, lectures and demonstrations for gardeners at all levels of expertise, and a lively amateur competition area produced by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society and the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts.

Preview Party

The 2012 Boston Flower & Garden Show will kick off with an elegant fundraising Preview Party at 5:30 on March 13th.  The Preview Party will help restore Boston Parks Department’s Greenhouses, where plants are propagated for the Public Garden, Boston Common, and dozens of neighborhood parks.  Special guests, entertainment and delightful food and beverage make this an exclusive and enjoyable opportunity to view the show’s gardens and exhibits before the general public.  For more information, click here.

Competitions

The Boston Flower & Garden Show will host two complementary floral design competitions — one produced by the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts and the other by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society — as well as an Amateur Horticulture section, featuring an Ikebana display, and displays by plant societies and garden clubs and an Amateur Garden Photography Competition.  To see a list of last year’s award recipients, click here.

Lectures & Demonstrations

A full roster of gardening, cooking and floral design demonstrations and in-depth lectures is being planned for every day of the show.  Join national experts, garden authors, local nursery managers and landscapers, Master Gardeners and our knowledgeable exhibitors for a diverse range of topics.  New this year is the After Work Urban Gardening Series at 6pm, Wednesday through Saturday.  Also, don’t miss a special visit by HGTV’s John Gidding, host of Curb Appeal: The Block, on Friday, March 16!  See schedule as it develops here!
